If we grow up with lazy habits, we often carry them into adulthood until we learn the importance of an active lifestyle. Being active doesn’t mean you never rest, but rather that you balance work and rest. As the body tires, it naturally seeks good sleep, something I’ve experienced firsthand.
The insights I’m sharing today come from my personal experiences. Once I recognized their importance, my life improved significantly, becoming more productive while still allowing time for rest.
It’s not just about waking up on time and completing tasks; it’s about finding joy in everything we do. While we may not feel great every day, most days can still be fulfilling. There are times when I feel unmotivated and unsure where to begin, but if that becomes a habit, it’s intentional. On those days, I allow myself to relax, prepare a light meal, and do some basic cleaning at my own pace. It’s important to listen to what your body needs, whether it’s rest, a change in routine, or a workout.
I’ve realized that if I don’t prioritize my well-being, I won’t thrive. It’s essential to make these lifestyle changes now, or it will become another burden. Here, I’ll share my essential daily habits that contribute to a fulfilling day.
1. Waking Up at a Consistent Time: I make sure to wake up around the same time everyday, this soon becomes like a habit and it doesn’t feel like a difficult thing to do everyday. Now same time doesn’t mean 5 AM, it can be like 15-30 mins early or late. I don’t push myself hard on this until this becomes a habit
2. Getting 7 Hours of Sleep: Days when I sleep less I have less good moods, less energy and less intention to be productive. If I feel I didn’t sleep well at night, I try to cover it during the day
3. Daily Exercise: I make a strong effort to reach 8,000 steps every day, though I occasionally miss the mark. Most days, I manage to hit it. In addition, I aim to work out at least four times a week, incorporating weight training and stretching into my routine.
4. Cooking My Own Meals: Cooking my own meals has always been a priority, as it not only ensures I’m eating healthy but also gives me the satisfaction of knowing exactly what’s in my food. On days when cooking isn’t an option, we order from trusted places we’ve tried before, ensuring the food is safe and doesn’t lead to any health issues.
5. Limiting Sweets to Festivals: I love sweets, but I know that having them daily isn’t great, often leaving me feeling bloated and regretful. So now, I save sugary treats for special occasions.
6. 4-5 Hours of Focused Work: No matter if it’s work, a passion project, or studying, I dedicate 4-5 hours each day to productive tasks. This routine gives me a sense of accomplishment, making me feel that the day was well spent.
7. Daily Reading: This practice refreshes my mind and offers a new perspective. It doesn’t always have to be an inspirational book; my choice varies based on my mood, whether I lean towards fiction or something random that sparks my interest.
8. Staying Hydrated: I’ve experienced headaches, bad moods, and low energy from not drinking enough water. When I ensure I’m well-hydrated, I feel more energized.
9. Adopting Minimalism: I prefer to keep only what I truly need around me, whether it’s utensils, furniture, clothes, or accessories. Remember, showing off possessions doesn’t improve who you are; it makes us a people pleaser.
10. Financial Stability: It’s essential to recognize the value of money and spend wisely, avoiding unnecessary purchases. Prepare for future expenses ahead of time, rather than overspending on material items and borrowing later.
11. Practicing Gratitude and Spirituality: Take just five minutes each day to express gratitude for what you have and for your goals. Meditate whenever you can, it also enhances your empathy towards all living beings.
What worked for me might not work for you, but it’s worth trying out a few things to see what changes occur. Just keep in mind that it doesn’t have to be perfect; it simply needs to make you feel good.
